SML MED LRG

There are already two shows at the Fringe that claim to contain the cream of the crop and the very best of Irish comedy. We’d argue that this show is, in fact, the finest collection of Irish comedians. The title of the show refers to the varying height of the three comedians taking part, and the posters also make this clear, with hilarious consequences. Don’t let this kind of japery fool you into thinking this is just another group of comedians too lazy to write their own one hander, and therefore coming together to the festival for no other reason than the fact that they feel they should be there, and cobbling together a collective theme for the heck of it: Ian Coppinger (Small), Eddie Bannon (Medium) and Brendan Dempsey (Large) are really just quite brilliant, and it’s a fine treat to have them all on the same bill. Their styles contrast and compliment each other in equal measure: Dempsey has a more traditional approach to stand up, keeping to the general shared observation style of comedy. Bannon in turn is a very enthusiastic and lively performer, dragging the audience right in to his good mood with him. Coppinger is our personal highlight, a consummate storyteller with a wonderfully dry delivery. For your further delectation, Dempsey and Coppinger are also appearing in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, with the former playing the Chief, and the latter taking on the Danny DiVito role.
